Ken Zagzebski returns to lead AES Indiana
AES has announced the appointment of Ken Zagzebski as the senior vice president of AES, president and CEO of AES Indiana, and chairman of the AES Indiana Board. Ken is well known in the industry and has been with AES since 2007. He brings vast utility experience, having previously led Indianapolis Power & Light (now AES Indiana) and Dayton Power and Light (now AES Ohio). Before this new role, he was the chief operating officer for AES’ US renewables sector. Zagzebski expressed enthusiasm about rejoining AES Indiana, emphasizing his commitment to sustainable and reliable energy solutions for Indiana residents. Ahmed Pasha, the former acting president and CEO, will now serve as the US Utilities CFO.
Bringing a known entity back to lead the utility is a wise move on AES’ part. Ken is well thought of at the Commission where the company currently has plenty of irons in the fire. The company has had a rotating cast of leaders since the mid twenty-teens and Ken will project stability at a time when it’s most needed.
Ken succeeds Kristina Lund who left AES last month after 17 years with the company. It has been announced that Kristina has taken on a new leadership role at Pattern Energy Group LP. Effective September 5th, 2023, Lund will serve as the president of Pattern Energy, a privately-owned developer of renewable energy and transmission infrastructure.
In a release announcing the appointment Hunter Armistead, CEO of Pattern Energy, expressed his enthusiasm for Lund's appointment, “Kristina brings tremendous industry experience that will be invaluable as we build some of the largest clean power projects in U.S. history. As President and my deputy, she will share in the leadership of the total enterprise and will specifically oversee several business divisions, including Power Operations, Commercial Origination, Distributed Generation, and People, Culture & Workplace”.
Lund shared her excitement about joining Pattern Energy, “I am deeply compelled by the mission of transitioning the world to renewable energy and look forward to helping deliver some of North America’s most innovative projects.”
In 2015, Pattern Energy acquired Fowler Ridge IV Wind Farm located in Benton County, Indiana. The $127 million acquisition of the 150MW facility was Pattern Energy’s first, and to date only, project in Indiana.
