Coal Communities Across the Nation Want Biden to Fund an Economic Transition to Clean Power

“Coal-state economic development groups, labor leaders and environmentalists are asking President Joe Biden’s administration to fund a ‘just transition’ from coal to renewable energy, given his focus on climate change, environmental justice and racial and economic equity.”
Groups from areas as diverse as West Virginia and Kentucky to the Navajo Nation are seeking the creation of a White House Office of Economic Transition and a task force on communities dependent for jobs on coal and power plants.
President Bide promised during his campaign to invest in coal and power plant communities, including the creation of a task force to study how best to transition such communities.
