Hodgin to Be Named Chief of Staff at Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission

Stephanie Hodgin, currently the Executive Director of Strategic Communications at the Commission, will be elevated to the position of Chief of Staff. This news is yet to be publicly announced by the commission.

Hodgin has been with the IURC for nearly six and a half years, initially joining as Deputy Director of Communications & Media before rising to her most recent role. Her leadership in strategic communications has been crucial in enhancing transparency and fostering beneficial relations between the Commission and stakeholders.

Hodgin previously served in various capacities with the Office of Governor Mike Pence, including roles as Deputy Press Secretary and Communications Specialist. In addition, Hodgin has experience working as a Communications Specialist at the Indiana State Personnel Department.

Hodgin earned a Bachelor's Degree in Strategic Communications from Butler University with a minor in Journalism and concentrations in Public Relations and Health Sciences.

Hodgin will succeed Ryan Heater who announced last month that he would be departing the Commission to join the Indiana Electric Cooperatives as Vice President of Government Affairs. Heater was named chief of staff—a new role at the Commission—in November 2019.

On a personal note, this is a well-deserved promotion for Stephanie. Not only is she known and respected within the Commission, but she also has a solid reputation outside the organization. She is an individual who garners respect from everyone she works with, and she’s exceptionally well-positioned to help lead the organization effectively in her new role as Chief of Staff.
